The aim of this shoot is to show casual fashion. The idea is inspired by British fashion, and to show this and make the images stand out I am going to incorporate the use of the British flag into the shoot. I am going to use a white background for this as I think black will look too harsh.
This image relates closely to my shoot. Firstly, because of the use of the American flag in the background which is what initially gets attention. Then with the position and casual look of the model that also goes well with my shoot as it is going to be quite casual and informal.
To prepare I need to;
- Get a flag
- Get a model
- Plan hair/makeup
- Plan outfit
What I hope to achieve;
I hope to get a range of shots showing casual fashion, with British influences evident through the use of the British flag.
What I actually achieved;
I am really happy with what I achieved as I got the outcome I hoped for. I got a variety of shots with the model incorporating the use of the flag. I wanted the shoot to be quite fun and casual, so I kept the poses and ideas casual and relaxed such as dancing, laying down and sitting casually on a chair. I chose for the model to dress casually in jeans, plain vest and Converse to keep in with the casual theme and so that the clothing did not take to much attention away from the flag. If I got the model to wear a dress and heels, the impact would not have been right. When editing, I had no preference with colours and techniques, and so I used a variety and each worked well with the different poses and ideas in the separate images.
I really like this image as it looks quite peaceful and relaxed. The fact that the models eyes are closed makes it seem slightly anonymous. I really like the models position as well, as it looks relaxed. The composition is good as well, as it is quite tight, just focusing in on the models face really. The camera looking down on her also makes her seem slightly vulnerable. When editing this, I decided to desaturate it a bit while keeping the bold colour as it gives it a slightly somber effect.
While shooting I decided that I wanted to edit an image to make it seem as though the model was dancing. To do this I took a variety of shots of her spinning around. I then chose a few different ones, layered and faded them. I think this has created a really good effect, especially due to the use of a flag as it emphasizes the movement. I desaturated this a bit as it makes it appear more dramatic and creates more of an impact.
What I am going to do next;
I am really happy with how this turned out so I do not want to go back and re do the idea itself. I really like linking and incorporating the use of a flag so strongly into the shoot which has made me want to try out ideas with other props.
