Animation

Photoshop
·         Open up all the images you want to turn into an animation, and add them all together as layers.
·         Then open Windows > Animation.
·         Then for each part of your animation turn the different layers on and off. The image you want shown at that point should be on and the rest off.
·         Then, using Tween you can adjust the timing and the flow of the images.
·         Save as Gif file.
iMovie
·         Open up iMovie and import all the images you want to include in the animation.
·         Drag them onto the top workspace.
·         Adjust the timing of the images.
·         Add any transitions, text and sound. Export as movie and upload via YouTube.

    Sequence

·         Open up Photoshop.
·         Make a blank document 21X29 (A4)
·         Open up all the images you want to include on the sequence.
·         Edit the images and change their size so they can fit evenly onto the document.
·         Present the images how you want on the document.
·         Crop the document to frame the images.

·         Save as jpeg. File.

   Video

iMovie
·         Add the clips you want to use onto the project.
·         Drag the ones that you will use to the top window.
·         Arrange the order of clips by dragging them to where you want.
·         To cut the clip, select it then use the markers by dragging to the points where you want the video to be cut too.

·         To add a title, credits and sound effects click on the icons underneath the video preview.

   Depth of Field
Minimum Depth of Field
Allows you to focus on the subject and blur out the rest of the image. This will put more emphasis on the focus of the image.
·         Set camera to a large aperture setting (the lower the number the larger)
·         Get your model or focus to stand a good distance away from the camera and away from the background, so in between.
·         Take photograph.
Maximum Depth of Field
·         Use a shorter lens length
·         Set the camera to a smaller aperture setting.

·         Have the focus further away rather than close.

   Multiple Imagery

Multiple Imagery refers to any image composed of more than one photograph. This could range from the example above to photo joiner.
  • Set the camera up to auto (how it is when taking normal photographs)
  • Take the right amount for the type of image you want to create. For example, for photojoiner, you need a lot of varied images.
  • Upload them to Photoshop and create the image you want

   Overlay

Overlay is similar to multiple exposure as you are layering the different images together. However, the difference is that you take the images separately, and then layer them on photoshop. This is better as you can the change shape, direction and size of layers and erase certain areas.

  • Take the separate images you want to layer; such as a portrait and leaf.
  • Open them both on photoshop and edit them separately.
  • Paste the top layer image on top of the bottom one.
  • Edit it how you want it - scale etc.
   Blur
Blurring is a technique that shows movement in an image. This works best at night or in a dark studio as the light shows up well.

  • Set the camera at a low shutter speed.
If outside, this is all you have to do, but if shooting in the studio, you have to set the studio to capture movement;

  • Set up a continuous light source.
  • Set up the black backdrop, and protect it from the light with a polystyrene board.
  • Match the white balance on the camera to the light.
  • The model needs to step into the light, then once you press the shutter they start moving. Only release the shutter once you are happy with the movement.
  Slow Sync
Slow-Sync-Flash-7-1

Slow Sync studio set up is very similar to that for Blur, as you need a dark background, a red head light and a polystyrene board in between the background and the light. The only differences are;

  • Set up a soft box light with a normal flash setting
  • Set up the camera flash setting to rear curtain
  • Set exposure for continuous light source
  • Set it to a normal aperture
  • Once the model is moving, you can take the photographs
