Preparation;
The aim of this shoot is to show casual, street fashion, in a more advertising way rather than out on location in a setting that suits the clothes. To do this I am going to use the studio and the dark blue background as I want to show colour in the background, but also want it to be dark to help show the clothes in the correct way.
Both of these images show examples of similar images I want to create in terms of style, and poses. The top one relates to what I am planing on doing as I like the attitude given off by the model, the pose and composition as they work well with showing street fashion in a studio environment. I like the one on the bottom as I like the pose, and how the camera is slightly looking down on her. I also like the fashion in this - the denim and the beanie.
To prepare I need to;
- Book the studio
- Get a model
- Plan what outfits I want the model to wear
- Plan any specific poses
What I hope to achieve;
From this shoot, I hope to achieve a shoot showing street fashion, in a professional, advertising style that is still comfortable and fun.
What I actually achieved;
I am really happy with what I achieved in this shoot as I got a range of different images showing different poses, angles, and lighting to give various different effects on the feel and look of the image and what it was representing. I also shot a range of different fashion styles within the street fashion area during this shoot which gave me more to work with in terms of how to present the images. When editing, I tried a range of different techniques depending on the image, such as selective colour, black and white and leaving the image quite natural.
I really like this image as the model appears to be nearly exactly central to the composition, and fills the composition well. I decided to use selective colour for this image as I think it works well in black and white, and the colour in the shirt brings the image to life more and makes it seem more fun. The colours work well as well due to the fact they are bold enough to stand out, but not too bold and bright that they take over the image.
This is another image I really like, as it looks quite natural, and casual. This is due to the the models relaxed pose, which also makes it feel more personal. I like how the model fills the composition, and how it makes her look slightly powerful, while at the same time looks down to earth. When editing, I wanted to keep it quite natural so I just used layers and curves.
What I am going to do next;
I am really happy with how this shoot has gone, as it met my expectations and gave me really good, varied results. I do want to expand this idea, and maybe do a similar shoot but with a group of models to give a more social feeling rather than having one.
