Sequence Work Diary

Evaluation;

For this technique, I focused on creating image sequences rather than using animation sequences. I really enjoyed exploring this technique as it allows me to think creatively about different actions that can be shown through a series of still images clearly. For example, for one idea I had people standing in a row and one at a time them turning around, and then another idea changing facial expressions. Although I did focus on showing sequence through a row/collection of images, I did try out the idea of using animation for some, but it did not work out as the images were too different and needed extra images added to create a link to the next image.

I really like this sequence as it is quite a fun and happy action that is shown, with Kate pulling different faces and closing her eyes in between. For this shot I tried to keep the composition and positioning of Kate’s head constant throughout the images to make them link more and show more similarities which would strengthen the sequence. When editing, I decided to desaturate the images – while still keeping some colour - as it makes the images appear more dramatic. I also like how the fun and silly faces show happy themes, but the dark high contrast colour contrasts the idea. What I think would improve this image is if I the editing was more consistent, as although I did try to make sure each image was the same colour wise, there are slight differences.

Idea Development;
There are a few things that I need to do to develop this idea. Firstly, as I only worked on editing fully one image, I need to continue editing some images. When editing these I plan on doing some where the images change through colour or other editing techniques, for instance they get darker or transparent.  Another way in which I am going to develop my ideas is too go out and take more images that can portray ideas through sequences. An Idea I really want to try out is what is shown in this image. I really like the overall effect and look of keeping the camera in the same place so all that changes is the action and layering these images.
