I took all of these pictures outside, which was a good thing as it meant I could incorporate nature into the images which looks effective with portraits. As my brief for unit 3 is Fashion and Beauty, I wanted to try and relate what I took to that so I mainly took photographs involving models and portraits. When editing I made all of the images black and white or at least desaturated the colour as I found when researching and editing that it made the images much more dramatic and made more of an impact. Overall, I really liked looking at this technique and found the result of the images that worked really good. There were some ideas that did out as well as hoped for various reasons such as proportion and the camera moving position slightly, so I could look at redoing some ideas.
This is my favourite image from this shoot as I think the overall look is really dramatic but not too harsh like the others I have taken. What I like most about this is the models pose, how she is looking off to the right which creates a more natural feel to the picture. The pose also created a better space for the image of the trees that I took over the top, so that her face wasn't so covered up, but also so the trees are strong and evident.
This is another picture that I think worked out well due to darkness and how harsh the tree trunk looks on top of the models image creating a eerie effect. When editing I decided to remove all the colour as it gave the image this creepy effect that it didn't have with colour. I then used the burn tool to darken the trunk in the background as it was quite light which softened the image a bit which was not what I wanted.
If the models position was different, I would not have got the same effect as it looks as though she is looking down on the camera which makes the image more intense.

How I could use this technique in my project;
I could use this technique in my project in various ways, especially in the beauty section. I could take a more literal take on ideas - such as flowers and fill the models face with flowers using this technique. I could also use this technique when doing fashion shoots in the studio, having the model standing in different places and positions. This effect would work best when I am looking into effects makeup and horror ideas as it can be used to create a ghostly effect which would look good.
