The aim of this shoot is to show contrasts in beauty - what people really look like and the masks they put on to conform to society's idea of what is acceptable and what is beauty.
This is an image from my photography work last year that has inspired ideas for this shoot. Although this idea is different to what I am planning on doing today, it shares similarities to my idea, for example the look of skin being pulled back to reveal something else underneath.
- Plan make up ideas
- Plan poses
- Get wig
- Book studio
What I hope to achieve;
From this shoot I hope to achieve a shoot that shows the idea of what people really are like compared to what society expects.
What I actually achieved;
I am relatively happy with this idea as it shows what I wanted to which was the idea of contrasting views on beauty. To do this I used the ring flash and the soft box lights to get varied images, and create tone and form. In terms of the background, I used a grey one as it is quite a neutral colour and would show my idea well. In terms of poses, I did not have anything specific planned as I wanted to get a range of quite normal looking images. When it came to editing I kept the images as realistic as possible, while also enhancing the contrast.
This image is quite simple, just using colour and tone to enhance the contrast. I also added some more makeup and changed the colours to make it more dramatic. I really like how the composition has me dead centre as well.
This is another image I really like. I like the composition with my head just tilted slightly. I made the majority black and white to enhance the contrast and show the idea clearer.
What I am going to do next;
I feel that this went okay, so I am going to move onto a new idea.
